Sioux is one of my absolute favorite does in our herd for so many reasons. We got Sioux as part of a local herd dispersal and she came to us in 2023 one week before our linear appraisal and was half dried off. The appraiser encouraged us to appraise her anyways and she scored well despite not having a great udder fill. Fast forward to the next summer and Sioux cleaned up in the show ring. She has consistently placed at the top of her class at competitive shows and has won Best Doe in Show not once, but twice! One judge stated that Sioux “excelled in every area of the score card.” On the milk stand, Sioux is one of my favorites because she has such a soft udder and very open orifices making her a joy to milk. To top it off, Sioux has a calm and easy going personality that make her so enjoyable to be around. In 2025 unfortunately Sioux got mastitis and didn’t make it into the show ring but I’m hopeful for her return in 2026.
